It has been a thrilling NASCAR Cup Series season to this point, and the pressure will be mounting on drivers, as there are just six races of the regular campaign remaining, including this weekend. Drivers will be battling for vital points to secure a place in the NASCAR playoffs, which get underway with the Cook Out Southern 500 on September 3.
This weekend’s race was first staged in 1974, and a total of 400 miles will be covered by the drivers involved. A total of 160 laps will be completed by the field, with the first stage being made up of 30 laps. Each of the final two stages will see drivers involved complete 65 laps. A number of the most successful drivers in the history of the race will be involved this weekend, including Denny Hamlin, who is tied for the most race wins in history with four.
The driver is certainly among the leading contenders this weekend, as he sits fourth in the overall standings. He bounced back to form last weekend after finishing seventh in the Crayon 301, but that was his first top-ten finish since claiming third at the Ally 400.
Kyle Busch also has an excellent record in this race, and he will be looking to join Hamlin on four race wins at the HighPoint.com 400. Busch sits fifth in the overall standings, and has already claimed three race wins already this season. He has also finished in the top ten in seven of his previous eight starts.
