Thorpedo Anna could be hard to overlook when making a prediction on the Cotillion Stakes this weekend.
The superstar three-year-old filly makes her return to the track in the Grade One at Parx, and will be widely expected to further her claims for the G1 Breeders’ Cup Distaff on Saturday.

Before Betting
There have been some superstar winners of the G1 Cotillion in recent years, including Clairiere and Society. This year, we will see one of the star three-year-old fillies in the U.S., as Oaks winner Thorpedo Anna returns to action against her own sex.
The runner for Kenneth McPeek has been in excellent form throughout this season, winning the G1 Oaks by a commanding four-length margin, before following up with equally as dominant successes in the G1 Acorn and G1 American Oaks.
Connections deserve huge credit for taking their chances against the boys in the G1 Travers last month, but Thorpedo Anna was denied a famous win by a head against Fierceness. That form is much the best in this race, and if she is anywhere near that level, she will win by at least four lengths.
Power Squeeze has already been put in her place on two occasions by Thorpedo Anna this season, including when sixth in the G1 Oaks. However, her recent runs do indicate that she is still improving, and her recent success in the G1 Alabama over Candied makes her the obvious Exacta play on Saturday.
Mystic Lake is the horse at a double-digit price that is worth a second look. The Saffie Joseph-runner was impressive when landing the G2 Charles Town Oaks last month, and has finished outside of the first two on just one occasion from seven starts this season.
Cotillion Stakes Prediction
Thorpedo Anna is the only win angle worth examining in the Cotillion this weekend. The filly isn’t only the best horse against the girls, but she could easily hold her own in open three-year-old company.
I’m hoping for a dominant run, which could force connections to reconsider a potential run in the Classic. Mystic Lake and Power Squeeze will be the Exacta Box plays.
