Another exciting weekend of racing action is set for Saratoga, with the stakes action getting underway on Saturday with the G3 Kelso Stakes. This race will be run on the turf by horses aged four and older, and a field of six could be set to line up at the Spa.

The Kelso Stakes kicks off the high-quality stakes action at Saratoga this weekend, with the field of horses competing over a distance of a mile on the turf. This race was previously known as the Forbidden Apple Stakes, and a purse of $175,000 is up for grabs at the Spa.

Charlie Appleby’s Mysterious Night appears to hold leading claims on his best form this weekend. The four-year-old was last seen finishing second behind Ice Chocolat in the G3 Poker Stakes over course and distance, but he likely needed that run to get back up to speed. Over the winter, he won two from four starts in the Middle East.

Carl Spackler deserves plenty of respect for the Chad Brown team on Saturday. The four-year-old was well beaten in the G3 Poker Stakes, but he was very impressive before that effort over a mile when landing the Opening Verse Stakes. Could be easy to overlook his recent effort after winning on two starts at Saratoga last year.

Meanwhile, Northern Invader could hold leading claims for the Cherie DeVaux team. He was last seen finishing fourth in the G3 Arlington Stakes, but that five-length defeat by Ottoman Fleet could be the best form on display this weekend. Was in fine form before that defeat when landing success over a mile at Keeneland in April.
