Before Betting On Spinaway Stakes
The G1 Spinaway Stakes will present viewers with a first opportunity to assess the credentials of fillies aged two ahead of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies later in the year. This Grade One is contested over seven furlongs on the dirt, with recent victors including Brightwork, Echo Zulu, and Rachel’s Valentina.
A high-quality field of eleven will go to post this weekend, with The Queens M G likely to be a solid enough favorite for the Saffie Joseph Jr team. The two-year-old was an impressive performer on her latest start when landing the G3 Adirondack Stakes at Saratoga, recording a very strong speed figure of 90. She has improved with every start to date, and the step up to seven furlongs appears to be no huge issue.
However, there are a number of fillies that could still be improving, with Tiz Purple among the likely contenders for trainer Jorge Delgado. She landed a first victory on her second career start, setting a speed figure of 89 when putting distance between herself and Will Not Be Swayed over six furlongs. Big chance based on her pedigree this weekend.
Strong State and Bellacose are two further improving fillies that deserve extra attention this weekend after making winning stars on their last appearances at Saratoga. Both boast progressive profiles, and registered impressive speed figures at the New York track on their latest outing.

The Queens M G sets a good standard for this Grade One on Saturday. However, a chance will be taken on the improving Strong State. Like the market favorite, she was an impressive winner when clashing with Will Not Be Swayed, and this step up to seven furlongs looks set to bring out more improvement.
