Group Two action headlines the card at Ascot on Saturday, with the Summer Mile Stakes being the second race on the card. This race will cover a distance of a mile, with horses aged four and older set to be involved.
Before Betting On Summer Mile Stakes
The Summer Mile Stakes is a contest run at Ascot annually in July, with the field competing over a distance of a mile. It was previously staged at Lingfield, before being upgraded and moved back to Ascot in 2007. The race is open to horses aged four and older, and it was won in 2023 by Master of The Seas for the team of James Doyle and Charlie Appleby.
Quddwah appears to fit the progressive profile required to win this race, with the Simon & Ed Crisford runner having won on each of his three career starts. He was most recently seen winning over course and distance when winning the Queen Anne Stakes Trial by a neck from Docklands. That looks pretty solid form on paper, and he could be the leading chance once again on Saturday.
Sonny Liston is among the more experienced runners set to compete in the race this weekend, and he holds solid claims based on his best Ascot efforts. He was last seen finishing a close second behind Wild Tiger in the 29-runner Royal Hunt Cup. A solid draw gives him every chance back at one of his favorite tracks this weekend.
Epictetus has been a frustrating horse to follow from the John & Thady Gosden yard, but he retains huge potential. Robert Havlin will take the ride on the four-year-old this weekend, but he needs to step up on his efforts from this season. He was previously well beaten by Quddwah at Ascot earlier this season, but a return to form could enhance his chances.
Summer Mile Stakes Offshore Odds & Pick
This is a trappy little race at Ascot this weekend, with plenty of runners holding solid claims. However, the progressive Bolster could be a dangerous contender for the Karl Burke team, and he is preferred to bounce back from his fourth in the G3 Dubai International Stakes.
