The action on day two of the Ebor Festival kicks off with graded action, as fillies aged two will be involved in the G2 Lowther Stakes. This race will be run over a distance of six furlongs, and it serves as a key trial for the Cheveley Park Stakes. Relief Rally was an impressive winner of the race for the team of Tom Marquand and William Haggas in 2023.

However, I am a big fan of Karl Burke’s two-year-old runners this season, and the trainer has won two of the last five editions of the Lowther. Leovanni holds an advantage based on overall ratings, and she comes into this race after a dominant display when landing the G2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Aidan O’Brien’s Heavens Gate is the chief danger from Ireland this week. She was third in the G2 Duke of Cambridge Stakes over six furlongs at Newmarket last month, before following up over the same distance to land the Ballyhane Stakes at Naas.

The feature on day two of the Ebor Festival is the G1 Yorkshire Oaks. This race is run by fillies and mares aged three and older, with a total distance of a mile and three being covered. Runners that have previously contested the Oaks typically run in this race, with the latest to do the double coming in the form of Snowfall in 2021.

Bluestocking heads the betting, but she also holds an entry for the Juddmonte International on day one. She is a high-class performer, winning two from three this season. Unsurprising if she bounces back from her second in the G2 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Queen Of The Pride has progressed very well for John & Thady Gosden this season, winning on each of her last two starts at Haydock. It remains unclear how high her sealing is, but she was excellent when landing the G2 Lancashire Oaks last month. The narrow preference is for You Got To Me for Ralph Beckett. Three-year-olds have an excellent record in the race, and she was an impressive winner of the G1 Irish Oaks last month when finishing ahead of Content.
