  • Illinois improved to 3-0 last week, after defeating Central Michigan 30-9.
  • Nebraska stormed past Northern Iowa, winning 34-3 and climbing to 3-0.
  • These two teams last met on October 6, 2023, in a game that Nebraska won 20-7.

Nebraska has rebuilt its brand of football over the past couple of seasons, and is aiming to break out this year. A win over 3-0 rival Illinois would go a long way towards re-establishing the Cornhuskers as a CFB blue blood.

Before Betting on Illinois vs Nebraska

Illinois is still seeking their first bowl game victory since 2011. Their three bowl trips since then, in 2014, 2019, and 2022, ended in losses. This season, the Fighting Illini have one of their best squads in a long time. They’ve already picked up half the wins necessary to make a bowl game and cracked the Top 25 in the process. QB Luke Altmyer has been better this season than last, but Illinois’ defense remains their top asset in the CFP race.

Nebraska has long been attempting to return to relevance in college football. The Cornhuskers made a bowl game in 44 of 46 seasons from 1969 to 2016, including five national championships. Since then, they’ve failed to qualify for a bowl game for seven straight years. Nebraska’s inability to compete in the Big-10 has been well documented, but they may finally break free from their ineptitude. This year’s team is eyeing up a CFP berth.

Illinois vs Nebraska Offshore Odds

Last season, Nebraska felled Illinois in a low-scoring clash. Both teams improved over the offseason, but this year’s matchup will take place in Nebraska’s home stadium. Illinois should keep it competitive, but the Cornhuskers are the better team in this matchup. Expect both defenses to come out strong, with Nebraska pulling away late on offense. Look for them to win this one by a couple of TDs. We’ll take Nebraska, 24-13.
