The Tigers of Jackson State have had an excellent season at 11-2 and are hot, having won nine straight. South Carolina State has also been solid at 9-2 and is currently on an eight-game winning streak.

Jackson State Trying to Keep Their Offense Hot

The Tigers have an elite offense, scoring 35 or more points in eight of their last nine games. Jackson State has good balance as well, with Jacobian Morgan at quarterback, who leads the team with 2,003 passing yards. Meanwhile, Ivy Mulligan leads the rushing attack with 1,168 rushing yards. In any game, either guy has proven they can have a big game and carry the team.

Even though the offense gets a lot of the hype, the defense is no slouch. Joshua Nobles has nine sacks and two forced fumbles this season. Two different defenders have three interceptions, and three other players have at least 50 tackles. There may not be a lot of household names, but the defense does a good job of starring in their roles and making things difficult for opponents.

South Carolina State Trying to Celebrate with an Upset

The Bulldog’s offense is not nearly as balanced as Jackson States, as they lean on their pass-heavy attack. Eric Phoenix has been incredible at quarterback, throwing for 2,469 yards with 20 touchdowns and seven interceptions. He has a strong receiving core with three players with over 550 receiving yards this season. They are led by Caden Smith, who has 58 receptions, 892 yards, and seven touchdowns, leading the team in each category.

Defensively, the South Carolina State pass rush is scary for opponents. Ashaad Hall has 11 sacks, and Jayden Broughton has seven. With both guys coming off the edge, it is almost impossible to double both, and it becomes a pick-your-poison for opponent blocking schemes. If the Bulldogs pull the upset, it will be because of their pass rush interrupting Jackson State’s game plan.

Jackson State vs South Carolina State Prediction: Tigers Offense Unstoppable

The difference in this contest is that Jackson State can hurt South Carolina State on the ground and in the air. At the same time, the Bulldogs will try to air it our more often than not. The Tigers will get to pin their ears back and pass rush like crazy, and their defensive backs have shown a propensity for forcing turnovers. This matchup will be close for a half, but the Tigers run away with it after halftime.
