The Jaguars (10-8) are playing with house money, not just because they probably didn’t think they’d see the playoffs with a 4-8 record heading into the last quarter of the season, but also getting past the Chargers last weekend seemed unlikely down 27-0 late in the second quarter.
Kansas City (14-3) not only expects to be in the divisional round, at this point in their progression anything but a Super Bowl win is a failure of a season. The Chiefs have won 10 of their last 11 down the stretch, including a 27-17 win over Jacksonville at home in week 10 which pushed the KC -10 point spread.
Before Betting on Jaguars vs Chiefs
Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence threw 4 INTs early last week vs. the Chargers, but he got his first playoff game jitters out of the way and finished with 4 TD passes as well. The wild card game was in Jacksonville last Saturday, and now Lawrence will get a whole different experience heading to a very hostile environment in Kansas City.
Kansas City got the extra benefit of a bye last week, and coach Andy Reid and QB Patrick Mahomes have won all three divisional round games coming off the wild card bye. What could hurt the Chiefs is looking ahead to the AFC Championship against either Buffalo – a game that would played at neutral site Atlanta – or Cincinnati, who beat the Chiefs to go to the Super Bowl last season.
A Chiefs outright win does seem likely – Mahomes threw for 5,250 yards this year with 41 TDs and Jacksonville ranked 28th in the NFL vs. the pass this season (238.5 ypg). The Jaguars did do a good job of limiting Justin Herbert’s effectiveness last week though (25/43, 273 yards, 1 TDs) and both of these teams have gone 7-1 in their last 8 games.

Jaguars vs Chiefs Prediction & Pick
You have to think Kansas City views Saturday’s game as a formality, the #1 seed at home up against a team they already beat by 10 this year and one that has had the #1 pick the previous two seasons. The Jaguars have a quick, young defense though and some improved talent on offense. This might be the game where K.C. finally regrets the Tyreek Hill trade in the offseason.
Pick: Jaguars +10
