Presumably, many tickets are available to see the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-11) taking on the Las Vegas Raiders (2-12). Our Jaguars vs Raiders prediction is for underdog Jacksonville to win the game outright.

Head-to-head, Jacksonville has won six of the 10 meetings between the teams.

The Jaguars Need to Understand Sports Entertainment

An enduring memory of the 2024 Jaguars did not happen on the field.

Days before the 2024 NFL Draft, Tony Khan — son of team owner Shahid Khan — in his capacity as president of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), had been piledriven in the ring. At the draft, Tony sat in the draft room wearing a neckbrace just as Andy Kaufman did when Jerry “The King” Lawler piledrove him in perhaps the best example of someone keeping “kayfabe” and not letting anyone, anywhere know that it was sports entertainment and not real drama.

Note the chyron in the pic above.

Mac Jones is not sports entertainment. Nor are the Jaguars.

If anything, the Khans’ involvement in pro wrestling should give them an understanding of how important it is to give the fans something to believe in. Currently, the Jaguars do have quarterback Trevor Lawrence, but he’s out for the year after the Azeez Al-Shaair concussion-causing hit and shoulder surgery.

It might or might not be a consolation that eight of their 11 losses were by a total of 30 points. They’re bad, but not hopeless with the high draft pick pending in 2025 and Lawrence.

Speaking of hopelessness…

The Raiders Are Like an Expansion Team

In Week 15, Las Vegas again came close to an upset of a playoff-contending team before losing to Atlanta 15-9. It was that game that spurred the Falcons to bench starting quarterback Kirk Cousins and insert Michael Penix Jr.

This is a consistent story for the Raiders in 2024. They nearly beat the Chiefs and would have were it not for their center snapping the ball too soon and causing a fumble just as they were trying to gain a few extra yards for the game-winning field goal.

They lost to the Los Angeles Rams by five and upset the Ravens.

Still, despite those brief highlights, the Raiders have been perhaps the worst team in the NFL. A nearly endless stream of decisions must be made in the front office, with the coaching staff, and on the field.

They’ll be better served to lose and ensure they have a higher pick than Jacksonville.

Jaguars vs Raiders Prediction: Someone Has to Win(?)

These games are just as hard to prognosticate as they are to watch. The Raiders are far worse than Jacksonville. The Jaguars have been unlucky. The Raiders are just bad. Jacksonville is the underdog for some reason, but they should win even with Jones under center.
