A Netflix special this weekend will see the eyes of the world on Dallas, Texas, as Iron Mike Tyson makes his return to the ring to collide with YouTuber-turned-Boxer, Jake Paul.

The boxers were originally set to collide at the end of July, but the date was scrapped after Tyson suffered a flare-up aboard a plane. However, the revised date for November 15 was quickly established.

It will be an unmissable event on Netflix, becoming the first significant live boxing event on the streaming service. But, will Iron Mike be able to recreate his glory days?

Paul Facing Biggest Test of Boxing Career

Jake Paul has been no stranger to taking on interesting challenges since turning his hand to boxing in 2018. His debut professional bout would come two years later, beating fellow social media influencer AnEsonGib via knockout in January 2020.

His overall record reads well on paper, winning ten of his eleven professional fights, but his only bout against a fully-fledged boxer ended in defeat against Tommy Fury in February 2023.

Since then, he has scored a unanimous decision win against UFC star Nate Diaz, and straightforward KO wins over Andre August, Ryan Bourland, and Mike Perry. Age is certainly his biggest asset, as he has a 30-year advantage on Iron Mike.

Tyson Bidding to Relieve Glory Days

Let’s face it, if this fight was taking place in the 1980s or 90s, it would be over incredibly quickly. Mike Tyson is largely regarded as one of the greatest heavyweights of all-time, becoming the youngest boxer to win a heavyweight title, and the first to hold the WBC, WBA, and IBF titles simultaneously.

However, Tyson’s best days are certainly behind him, no matter how well he looked in the public workouts on Tuesday.

The 58-year-old has flirted with a comeback in recent years, but he hasn’t been seen in a professional bout since retiring mid-fight against Kevin McBride in 2005. Tyson was in the ring as recently as November 2020, but a walking pace bout like he contested against Roy Jones Jr is unlikely to repeat itself against Paul on Friday night.

Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson Prediction

The biggest question surrounding the outcome of the fight this weekend is how will Tyson’s body hold up against a young opponent.

Iron Mike certainly still boasts the power to deliver a knockout blow, but he will need to get near Paul to unleash a strong right hand.

The longer the fight goes, the more it favors the YouTuber, but at the prices, I wouldn’t want to be backing Paul at odds-on. Therefore, the preference is for Tyson to deliver an early finish.
