Cleveland With a Great Chance to Get to 2-0

Even though their best offensive player might be a rookie kicker right now, the Cleveland Browns still got to 1-0 and avoided an embarrassing loss to their former QB by beating Baker Mayfield and the Panthers 26-24 last week. Now the Browns return home as nearly a TD favorite in the offshore odds hosting the 0-1 New York Jets.

New York has to have some concerns heading into the Jets Browns week 2 matchup. They fell 24-9 to the Ravens last week with 37-year-old Joe Flacco throwing the ball 59 times. That’s not the game plan New York wants to bring to Cleveland, especially with two talented young running backs in the backfield with the duo of Michael Carter and Breece Hall.

The Cleveland defense really stepped up last week holding Carolina to 54 yards rushing on 19 carries. The Panthers’ Christian McCaffrey had just 33 yards so the Browns seem like they can make New York one-dimensional again this week. When you have Flacco passing a lot again, that only opens the door to more pressure from Cleveland’s Myles Garrett who had 2 sacks last week.

New York’s defense actually didn’t play bad last week, holding Baltimore to 63 yards rushing, 211 passing, and just 13 first downs. What they need is a much improved offense this week.

Jets Browns Week 2 Prediction

The Jets Browns week 2 matchup isn’t one of the most exciting ones on the slate but there does seem to be some value on Cleveland. The RB duo of Kareem Hunt and Nick Chubb can at the very least get the team in position for field goals, and rookie kicker Cade York seems legit after drilling a 58-yard game winner against the Panthers.
