The New York Jets (3-6) travel to Arizona to take on the 5-4 Cardinals. New York is back on the gridiron after a key win over Houston on Thursday Night Football in Week 9. Arizona has won three straight and is surprisingly in first place in the NFC West. Our Jets vs Cardinals prediction is for underdog Arizona to cover the 1.5-point spread.

Head-to-head, the Jets lead the series 6-4.

The Jets Face Their Latest Last Stand in 2024

Almost implausibly, despite their drama, injuries, and dysfunction, New York still has a chance to make the playoffs. They played well in their win over Houston and the 10 days off gave their veteran-laden team time to rest and recover.

If the Jets manage to escape Arizona with a win, they will have four consecutive winnable games against Indianapolis, Seattle, Miami, and Jacksonville. Winning four of five will get them to 7-7.

While New York has been ineffective in every facet except defending against the pass (ranked second in the NFL), that was before they acquired Davante Adams. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers looked close to his old self against Houston completing 22 of 32 for 211 yards and three touchdowns.

New York will need to shore up its run defense against Arizona. The Cardinals are ranked seventh in the NFL in rushing yards per game. New York is 21st in the league in allowing rushing yards per game.

Arizona Finds Itself in an Unexpected Position

Few would have had it on their bingo card for Arizona to be in first place in the tough NFC West by Week 10, but that’s exactly where they are: one-half ahead of the Rams and the 49ers and a full game ahead of Seattle.

Is it a team going beyond the sum of its parts?

Have they been lucky?

Could quarterback Kyler Murray be living up to his first-overall draft pick status and coming through in the clutch?

The Cardinals have not had an easy schedule as they have notched victories over the Rams, 49ers, Chargers, and Bears. The 29-9 win over Chicago in Week 9 was Arizona’s most impressive overall victory of the year.

Expect them to try and ram the ball down the Jets’ throats on the ground with James Conner and some tactical scrambling by the elusive Murray. If New York cannot stop the run, Arizona will win the game.

Jets vs Cardinals Prediction: Arizona Covers in a Close Game

These are two evenly matched teams. The 1.5-point spread indicates that it can go either way.

Our Jets vs Cardinals prediction is Arizona +1.5.
