A second half free fall knocked both the Jets (7-9) and Dolphins (8-8) from almost assured locks for the postseason to New York being eliminated and Miami fighting for their playoff lives. A win by Miami here coupled with a loss by the Patriots – who are playing the Bills – would see the Dolphins get into the wild card round where they could be dangerous with all the offensive talent at their disposal.

Quarterback was the main theme for both New York and Miami this season. The Dolphins couldn’t keep theirs healthy while the Jets couldn’t get theirs to be good. Injury woes continue to hit Miami heading into the regular season finale with Tua Tagovailoa in concussion protocol and backup Teddy Bridgewater battling a finger injury. Third-stringer Skylar Thompson – or even Mike Glennon who was just signed this week – have the Dolphins’ playoff hopes on their shoulders.
The only role left for New York is to play spoiler for the AFC East adversaries, as the Jets found a way to be the Jets even after a 5-2 start to the season. Former #2 pick QB Zach Wilson has been highly ineffective and backup Mike White is out with a rib injury which means Joe Flacco will take what could possibly be his final NFL snaps on Sunday.
