One of the final PGA Tour events before The Open takes place this weekend, as some of the world’s best players will be in action at the John Deere Classic. TPC Deere Run in Illinois will play host to the competitive event, which boasts a purse of $7.4 million.

Before Betting On John Deere Classic

Players on the PGA Tour will be looking to build momentum ahead of the final major of the season this weekend, as the golf action moves to Illinois. The John Deere Classic has been staged on the PGA Tour calendar since 1971, with players looking to collect their share of the $7.4 million purse. The field will be competing over 7,257 yards at the par 71 stroke play event, and a number of famous winners have previously landed victory at the John Deere Classic. Among those include Jordan Spieth, Steve Stricker, and Bryson DeChambeau.

Michael Kim holds the record for the best finishing score at the event, as he finished 27-under with an aggregate total of 257 when landing victory in 2018. However, the reigning champion is J. T. Poston, who finished three shots clear of Emiliano Grillo and Christiaan Bezuidenhout 12 months ago.

Russell Henley looks a solid play this weekend, as he has finished in the top 20 in each of his previous four events. That includes an excellent finish at the recent Travelers Championship at the end of last month. Emiliano Grillo could be another solid pick after finishing second last year, while Ryan Moore has finished in the top two on two occasions since 2016.

However, the Valspar could prove a key trend to consider this weekend, with four previous players landing victories in both that event and the John Deere Classic. This year, that event was won by Taylor Moore, who enjoyed a solid top-five finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic last weekend.
