Joker 2 Folie a Deux: US Opening Weekend Odds

The long-awaited Joker 2 will be released in October, with Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as the titular character.

Hopes are high ahead of Joker 2: Folie a Deux, which will see a first outing of Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn.

The Batman cinematic universe is thriving at present, with Robert Pattison’s adaption of the Cape Crusader drawing new eyes to the hero, and Colin Farrell’s recently released drama ‘The Penguin’ offering a fresh insight behind the origins of one of the most famous villains.

It will be the return of another super-villain that captures the attention in October 2024, as the sequel to the hugely successful 2019 release of ‘Joker’ hits the big screen.

The first film, directed by Todd Phillips, received hugely positive feedback. It won Academy Awards in two of its eleven categories, including Best Picture, becoming the first DC film to win the award.

Joker was a major success at the box office, grossing $743.5 million worldwide, and setting the second-all-time highest gross for an R-rated film.

The first release had the biggest opening day in the month of October in history, and would beat Venom’s opening weekend gross for the same month, grossing $96.2 million.

Release Date

As was the case with the first film, Joker: Folie a Deux will be released in early October, and further success is likely to follow.

The movie premiered at the 81^st Venice International Film Festival in October, and was followed by praise for the performances of Gaga and Phoenix.

The sequel will take place two years after the events of Joker, with Arthur Fleck now a patient at Arkham. Here, he encounters Lee, played by Gaga. The two fall in love and embark on a movement to liberate Fleck.
