Jordan Love calmed down the Packers’ nation by saying that Aaron Rodgers reached out to him, congratulating the youngster on his success.

Rodgers’ Welcoming Love

Love revealed that he and his future mentor, and colleague, already got in touch. According to the words of the youngster, them two had a little chat during which the veteran congratulated Love for coming to Wisconsin.

“I was able to talk with him earlier,” Love told. “Really good guy. Just congratulated me, and I was just letting him know that I was excited to be able to work with him.”

Tension among the fans appeared following the decision of the Pack’s management to pick Utah State’s QB at the recent NFL Draft. Fears arose that Rodgers might be disturbed with this move.

The reason for this was the fact that nobody from the organization said nothing to the two-time MVP. Usually, in cases like this, drafting a QB while having a veteran as a starter means that there would be change pretty soon. Sometimes that can be pretty nasty for the older player, and it could not only mess up his focus, but provoke a revolt and ruin the chemistry inside the locker room.

For sure, Rodgers wasn’t feeling comfortable once hearing that his team brought another passer who will be his successor. He knows the entire scenario of that movie because he himself was in Love’s position once arriving in Green Bay.

Back at the time, Rogers was behind Brett Favre, and was waiting for his chance to “retire” the famous QB. After three years of sitting, he would become a starter, while Favre took off for Minnesota.

Right now, AR has four more years on his deal with the Packers, but with a potential out, after 2021 season. That basically means that there is a possibility for him to leave Lambeau in two years, and experience the same destiny Favre had.

Brian Gutekunst Didn’t Notice Rodgers

The Packers’ general manager said that he didn’t speak with his starting QB, and that the decision made during the draft night was in the best interest of the team. It is very interesting that he commented pretty confidently on the fact that he didn’t consult Rogers, as if he wanted to send a message to the 36-year old.

What would be that message we don’t know. In his further addressing, Gutekunst added that Rodgers knows what’s the goal and what he is playing for. The Packs’ GM probably implied that No.12 should focus on the field and chase for the Vince Lombardy trophy.

He doesn’t have too much time, having in mind his age, but it seems that after a while, Green Bay has a team that might be competitive. Last year they reached the NFC Championship Game, but the 49ers confidently won that one, progressing to the Super Bowl.

Rodgers wasn’t on his expected level, and drafting another QB could be a way of motivating the veteran to reach his MVP form once again.
