Arizona got hot in the second half of the season last year as they made an improbable run to the World Series, and the Diamondbacks (52-50) can push their record to 4-2 on their six game road trip with a win on Wednesday in Kansas City. The Royals (56-46) had won four in a row out of the All-Star break prior to Tuesday’s 6-2 loss.

Before Betting on July 24 Diamondbacks vs Royals

Arizona and Kansas City play the rubber match of their three game series on Wednesday. The Royals belted out 15 hits in Monday’s 10-4 win while the D’Backs scored 3 in the top of the first and never looked back to even the series with a 6-2 victory on Tuesday.

As he’s done all season, Bobby Witt, Jr. is fueling the Royals’ 4-1 start to the second half of the year. Witt had a double, a triple, and a HR in Monday’s win, which was his fourth straight 3-hit game coming out of the All-Star break.

Wednesday’s series finale could shape up to be a pitcher’s duel, starting with the way Michael Wacha (7-6, 3.55 ERA) has been throwing the ball for the Royals. Wacha has picked up the win in three straight starts this month, and has allowed 1 ER or less in four of his five starts since returning from a left foot fracture.

Arizona starter Ryne Nelson (7-6, 4.78 ERA) has found a little groove with a 2.22 ERA so far in July. The D’Backs have won five of his last seven starts, and he’s actually got better road splits (3.58 ERA) than at home (6.21 ERA).

July 24 Diamondbacks vs Royals Prediction & Pick

Both Wacha and Nelson have had solid months on the mound, and should be refreshed coming off the All-Star break. There isn’t going to be a lot of scoring in the first 5-6 innings of this game, making the play on the total.

Pick: Under 9
