Boston (35-34) just took two of three from the NL’s best team the Phillies, now they’ll try to repeat that when the club with the top record in the AL, the Yankees (49-22) visit Fenway Park for a weekend series. This is the first time the two rivals meet this season, with New York holding a 13 game lead on the Red Sox in the division.

Before Betting on June 14 Yankees vs Red Sox

While the Sox are riding high after an 8-6 and a 9-3 win over Philadelphia to close out the series, New York had won 12 of 14 prior to Thursday’s late 4-3 loss to the Royals. That loss not only snapped a four game win streak overall, the Yankees had also won 8 straight road tilts so they are prepared to head into a hostile Fenway Park atmosphere on Friday night.

Even though Friday night’s total is 9.5 because of the potential of the two offenses, the series opener could play out as a pitcher’s duel. Luis Gil (8-1, 2.04 ERA) is up in the rotation for the Yankees and he’s been as good as pitcher in baseball. Gil’s W/L record is the fourth best in MLB and his ERA is top five as well. Gil did get tagged for 3 ER over 5.2 IP on Sunday against the Dodgers, but he gave up 3 ER all of last month in six starts.

Boston will try to keep their momentum going behind starter Brayan Bello (6-3, 4.78 ERA) who has been tagged pretty good so far this month with 9ER allowed over 11 IP in losses to the Tigers and White Sox. He’s also made four of his last five starts on the road, but has better home splits at Fenway and has a 1.45 ERA in five career appearances vs the Yankees.

June 14 Yankees vs Red Sox Prediction & Pick

It’s hard to go against a solid trend here and not take the Yankees who have won 8 straight Gil starts. Bello has struggled his last two outings and New York has been just as good on the road as at home over the past month.

Pick: Yankees -1.5
