For the Brewers being in first place and visiting an Angels club 15 games under .500, the offshore odds for Sunday’s series opener is surprisingly even. This could spell a trap play on a Milwaukee club that looks like too easy of a bet, but Los Angeles has won three of their last five – all on the road – while the Brewers have to travel to the West Coast after a six game home stand.
Before Betting on June 17 Brewers vs Angels
It’s really hard to figure out why the price tag on Milwaukee isn’t higher for this game. The Brewers have a 6.5 game lead in the NL Central while Los Angeles is 13.5 back in the AL West. Milwaukee has a +63 run differential while the Angels are -74. LAA is 2-5 over their last seven series’ while the Brewers have taken six of their last seven. Milwaukee is three games above .500 on the road – the Angels are 12 games below .500 at home. Trap play seems to be the only logical answer as to these odds.
Carlos Rodriguez (0-1, 4.91 ERA) tries to pitch the Brewers to their third straight win when he takes the bump in the series opener. The right-hander made his MLB debut last Tuesday but it was a relatively short one, lasting 3.2 IP while allowing 7 hits in a 3-0 home loss to the Blue Jays. Monday marks the first road start for Rodriguez which could be a reason why the line seems lower than it should be.
The Angels send Jose Soriano (4-5, 3.48 ERA) to the hill and they’ve been surprisingly good when he’s the starter. Los Angeles has won five of Soriano’s last eight starts, and he’s had a nice June with 3 ER allowed over 14 IP (1.93 ERA). That being said Soriano has a 5.54 ERA at home compared to 2.33 in eight road starts.

June 17 Brewers vs Angels Prediction & Pick
Soriano has had two solid starts in June, but it’s still hard to pull the trigger on the Angels against the 1st place Brewers. Rodriguez should be more relaxed in his second MLB start and if Soriano can continue his torrid stretch this game goes well under the total.
