The top of the AL East is going to be butting heads when the Orioles visit the Yankees this week, but the middle of the pack in the division could see some shuffling as the Red Sox continue their series up North against Toronto. Boston took the series opener 7-3 on Monday in what many people thought may be a letdown game for the BoSox after taking the series from the Yankees with a 7-3 win on ESPN’s Sunday Night Baseball. The Jays are now 2-2 on their current home stand.

Before Betting on June 18 Red Sox vs Blue Jays

The Yankees (50-24) and Orioles (47-24) look like they’ll be in a dogfight for the division for most of the Summer, but that might be the way Boston (38-35) likes it. The Red Sox can fly under the radar and make a quiet run for the wild card, which they are currently 2.5 GB from after scoring 7+ runs in five of their last six. Jaren Duran is 12 for his last 30 (.400), Ceddanne Rafaela is raking to the tune of 13 for his last 25 (.520) and Tyler O’Neill belted out 2 HRs in Monday’s win so this offense is clicking.

Monday’s Toronto starter Yusei Kikuchi lasted just 4.0 IP while getting pelted for 5ER (4 HR) in taking the loss, so Chris Bassitt (6-6, 3.56 ERA) is going to want a better showing than that in game two. Bassitt has put together two great outings in a row, going 8.0 IP and giving up just 1 ER against the A’s and then throwing 5.0 IP of shutout ball against the Brewers – both road games but also both Toronto losses thanks to Bassitt not getting any run support.

The Red Sox will aim for their sixth win in the last seven games behind the arm of Tanner Houck who has the 4th best ERA in baseball at 2.08 (7-5 W/L record). Boston has won five straight Houck starts,

June 18 Red Sox vs Blue Jays Prediction & Pick

Boston picked up an easy win as an underdog on Monday, but their odds still aren’t too bad for game two. With the price, you kind of have to “see the cards” because the way the Red Sox are hitting combined with Houck being dominant in most of his outings this season makes Boston a solid play. This is a team that could just be starting a big run, so get in early and often.
