Nobody likes leaving the perfect weather of San Diego, including the hometown Padres (38-40) who just wrapped up a 1-5 road trip against the Mets and Phillies. SD did pick up a 5-2 victory over 1st place Philadelphia on Wednesday, but another team at the top of their division comes calling when the Brewers (44-30) visit Petco Park to kick off a four game weekend set. Milwaukee has enjoyed the West Coast so far, taking two of three from the Angels this week.

Before Betting on June 20 Brewers vs Padres

It wasn’t a great road trip at all for the Padres, but the Phillies are 24 games over .500 and the Mets are red hot with wins in 7 of their last 8. The only problem with that for San Diego is that Milwaukee is having a somewhat surprising 44-30 season even after trading their ace pitcher Corbin Burnes and letting manager Craig Counsell join the division rival Cubs.

Bryse Wilson (4-3, 3.84 ERA) aims for some consistency on the mound for Milwaukee after he allowed 7ER to Detroit on June 9th, but followed that up with 5.1 IP of shutout ball on Saturday against the Reds. Wilson has a 4.75 ERA on the road this season compared to 2.63 at home

While Wilson has had a couple up and down starts recently, the Brewers still might have the better pitching situation for the series opener as San Diego starts rookie Adam Mazur (0-2, 7.82 ERA). Mazur had a solid MLB debut with 6.0 IP of 2-hit ball, but has given up 10 ER over 6.2 IP his last two. Confidence could be an issue for the youngster in this matchup, especially against a Brewers offense that ranks 7th in MLB with 4.80 runs/game.

June 20 Brewers vs Padres Prediction & Pick

Oddsmakers have this game basically a coin toss, and maybe the Padres will be better after getting back home after a disastrous 1-5 road stretch. The Brewers have already acclimated themselves to the West Coast though with a three game set at the Angels, and have to be the play in this spot.
