The Giants (36-39) continue their trek against the NL Central on Thursday when they play St. Louis (36-37) at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama. This is a scheduled tribute game to the Negro League, but the passing of San Francisco (and Birmingham Black Barons) legend Willie Mays makes this contest even more notable.
Before Betting on June 20 Giants vs Cardinals
Both San Francisco and St. Louis head to Birmingham with a lull in momentum. The Giants just lost the last two of their series with the Cubs at Wrigley Field while the Cardinals were doing well winning five of six but also falling in their last two at last place Miami.
Mays’ passing on Tuesday gives the Giants a bit more incentive to win Thursday’s contest at Rickwood Field, and a neutral site game doesn’t hurt a San Francisco team that is 16-22 in true road contests in 2024.
The Cardinals try to get back to .500 on the season behind Andre Pallante who makes his fifth start after coming out of the bullpen earlier in the year. The right-hander has had consecutive decent outings, allowing just 1 ER over 8.1 IP in a win over the Rockies and a loss to the Cubs.
Keaton Winn goes for the Giants on Thursday, but San Francisco is just 3-8 in games he starts this season, including five straight losses. Winn was rocked in May to the tune of an 18.36 ERA and continues to struggle allowing 10 ER in 10.1 IP in two starts in June.

June 20 Giants vs Cardinals Prediction & Pick
The sentimental play here is the Giants getting a win in honor of Willie Mays, but Winn being on the ound usually leads to a San Francisco loss. Winn gives up some runs, but Pallante also doesn’t usually pitch very deep so the offenses should have a field day here.
