Offense was the name of the game in Friday’s Baltimore vs Houston series opener, with the Astros eventually holding off a fierce O’s comeback to earn a 14-11 victory. Houston was up 14-3 heading into the 7th but the Orioles had dug to big of a hole as their two game win streak was snapped. The Astros bring a three game win streak into game two of the series.

Before Betting on June 22 Orioles vs Astros

Both offenses were dialed in on Friday, with Houston rattling off a 9-run sixth inning and the Orioles plating 7 runs themselves in the eighth. The club combined for 32 hits in the opener with Gunnar Henderson clubbing 2 HRs for Baltimore and the Astros scoring 14 runs on just one HR.

The Orioles have now scored 28 runs the last two games following a 17-5 win over the Yankees on Thursday. That offense is likely to hit a wall on Saturday though up against Astros starter Ronel Blanco (7-2, 2.43 ERA). Blanco already threw a no-hitter on April 1 vs. the Blue Jays, and went 7.0 IP allowing zero hits in his most recent outing on Sunday against the Tigers, getting pulled after throwing 94 pitches. The right-hander has the sixth best ERA in baseball and leads MLB with opponents hitting just .164 against him.

Houston is also expected to have a less successful afternoon at the plate on Saturday as Corbin Burnes (8-2, 2.14 ERA) takes the ball for Baltimore. The offseason acquisition from Milwaukee has the 3rd best ERA in baseball and has allowed 3 ER total in three starts so far in June (20.0 IP).

June 22 Orioles vs Astros Prediction & Pick

This would be a nice spot to make a contrarian play on the over 8 because two runs might win the game with two elite pitchers on the mound. That being said, with two nearly unhittable hurlers on the bump, 8 runs is just too many.

Pick: Under 8
