A couple of West Coast teams meet up on Monday night to kick off a three game series when the A’s make the 375 mile trek south to visit the Angels. Oakland just wrapped up a 3-3 home stand, which is respectable for a 29-51 team while Los Angeles (30-46) split a two-game set with the Dodgers and were also idle Sunday because of a weird scheduling quirk with their freeway rivals.
Before Betting on June 24 A’s vs Angels
Offshore oddsmakers are calling this game fairly close, which you do in a matchup with two teams that won’t sniff the postseason. The A’s have lost 12 of their last 13 road games which automatically gives a lean to Los Angeles at a pretty decent price, but the Angels are also just 12-25 at home on the season.
A big issue with taking Los Angeles in Monday’s series opener is that their offense is putrid, hitting just .172 as a team over the past week and hitting a total of only 2 HRs. The A’s have also scored 2 runs or less in three of their last four – but at least Oakland 2B Zack Gelof had a HR in each of the three games of the series against the Royals last week.
Luis Medina (1-2, 4.71 ERA) goes for Oakland in the series opener in his fifth outing of the season after being on the 60-day IL to start the season due to an MCL sprain. Medina picked up his first win in over 11 months on Wednesday after holding the Royals to 1 run over 5.2 IP.
The Angels counter with Griffin Canning (2-8, 5.02 ERA) on Monday as he hopes to rebound from 9 ER allowed in his last two starts (11.0 IP). Los Angeles has lost all four Canning starts this month, being outscored 29-6.

June 24 A’s vs Angels Prediction & Pick
Pick your poison in this matchup of the two worst teams in the AL West. Oakland has been horrible on the road lately, but the Angels haven’t exactly torn things up at home. Canning has been really bad for Los Angeles in his last two starts, but the A’s batters barely have a pulse at the place. This game could go either way, so in that case you take the better value.
