The Astros (29-35) look like a solid wager on Saturday night against the Angels (24-39) especially after Houston’s dominating 7-1 win in Friday’s series opener. That game was 1-1 until the 7th inning when the Astros plated five runs against the LAA bullpen which ranks third worst in MLB with a 4.82 team ERA.

Before Betting on June 8 Astros vs Angels

While the Angels bullpen could be described as iffy at best, Houston relievers are well rested after Framber Valdez went the distance with a 4-hit complete game on Friday night. Jose Abreu also came back from the dead with his first HR of the season so maybe this is the spot where we start to see the Astros make a run and close the 6.5 game gap on the Mariners in the AL West. Houston has upcoming series’ against the mediocre Giants and Tigers and then the worst team in baseball the White Sox so it might be a good time for bettors to jump on board.

Hunter Brown will try to follow up the masterpiece that Valdez threw on Friday night, but Brown has had his share of struggles this year as his 1-5, 6.18 ERA would show. The Astros have lost in 10 of the 12 games Brown has pitched in 2024, including 2-1 against these Angels on May 22 despite the right-hander allowing just 2 ER over 6.0 IP.

Can the Angels even up the series behind Tyler Anderson considering Brown’s bad fortune this season and Houston being just 5-6 over their last 11? Anderson has a top 10 ERA in the league at just 2.37 and is dialed in allowing just 1 ER in each of his last four starts.

June 8 Astros vs Angels Prediction & Pick

Brown’s record is atrocious but he’s held opponents to 2 ER or less in four of his last six outings, while Anderson is throwing as good as anybody in baseball over his last four starts. Put those together and the only way to play this one is on the total.
