Junior Tafa vs. Valter Walker is a fight between the younger brothers of two MMA legends, Justin Tafa and Johhny Walker. Justin’s brother Junior is 5-2 overall with two losses in his three UFC fights. Johnny Walker’s brother Valter is 11-1 with his only loss happening in his UFC debut in April this year.
Before Betting on Junior Tafa vs. Valter Walker
An interesting fact about Junior Tafa is that each of his five wins happened by KO/TKO. He’s a prolific striker who uses his Muay Thai skills to land powerful punches and leg kicks. This has worked for him in most of his fights, with the only two exceptions being the fights with Mohammed Usman (Kamaru Usman’s brother) and Marcos Rogerio de Lima.
Usman beat him by decision in a 3-round fight that saw Tafa land 3x more strikes than his opponent. The reason why he lost was that Usman landed two takedowns and kept him pinned to the ground for most of the fight.
Against Marcos Rogerio de Lima, he lost by a knockout, but in that fight too, he suffered one takedown, which is another piece of evidence that wrestling isn’t his forte.
This should worry Tafa a lot as his next opponent is a fantastic wrestler. Valter Walker is 11-1 overall with his only win happening a few months ago against Lukasz Brzeski.
The Russian-based Brazilian fighter landed four takedowns in that fight but still ended up losing due to his opponent landing more strikes.
Junior Tafa vs. Valter Walker Offshore Odds & Pick
Fighter | Odds |
---|---|
Justin Tafa | -110 |
Valter Walker | -120 |
Junior Tafa’s strongest weapon is striking, but we think Valter Walker can neutralize that threat by keeping him at a distance. Offensively, the only thing Walker needs to do at UFC 305 is make use of his superior wrestling to take the fight to the ground, where he should be able to get a finish.
There’s another UFC 305 in which we expect to see a wrestling masterclass. Read our Gamrot vs. Hooker preview to see which of these two will utilize their wrestling skills to get a win.
