The tenth race on a stacked card at Saratoga this Friday comes in the form of the Just A Game Stakes. This Grade One will be run by fillies and mares over a distance of a mile on the turf. A field of seven have been declared to run in the race.
Before Betting On Just A Game Stakes
The Just A Game Stakes will be among the standout races to be staged at Saratoga this Friday, with fillies and mares aged four and over set to compete over a mile. This race has been run since 1992, and it has been an excellent race in terms of producing Breeders’ Cup winners.
Chad Brown has a very strong record in the race after winning the contest on a record six occasions, which includes wins in each of the previous two. Brown has a very strong hand once again this year, with five of the seven declared runners coming from his yard. Whitebeam will be among his leading fancies after holding excellent course form after beating In Italian by a nose in the G1 Diana Stakes at Saratoga last year.
She made a reliable return to the action over the extended mile at Aqueduct when finishing behind Neecie Marie. However, Coppice could be the emerging filly from his yard that may be challenging to overlook. The four-year-old was a narrow second on her first U.S. start since leaving the John & Thady Gosden yard, and she was a two-time stakes winner in the UK.
Gina Romantica was very disappointing on her return to the track in April, finishing a distant seventh in the G1 Jenny Wiley Stakes. However, she still has plenty of rock-solid form in the book, which includes a fourth in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Mile, and wins in the G1 First Lady and G1 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge.
