Perth’s favorite son Steve Erceg is coming home to fight New Zealand’s best flyweight Kai Kara-France on August 17. Who’s going to win? The Kara-France vs. Erceg odds suggest “Astro Boy” will get a relatively easy win in his hometown. What do we think is going to happen? Keep reading this Erceg vs. Kara-France preview for our predictions and betting picks.
Before Betting on Kara-France vs. Erceg
Kai Kara-France vs. Steve Erceg is the co-main event of UFC 305. Kara-France is a former UFC Flyweight interim title challenger who’s 24-11-1 overall and who’s looking to end his two-fight losing skid. He’s locking horns with Erceg (12-2) whose most recent fight was a championship bout that he lost by decision to Alexandre Pantoja.
Kara-France has more experience than his two-years-younger opponent. He’s been fighting professionally since 2010 and has been in the UFC for the last six years. Striking is his forte, but he’s not very good in the clinch, which could be a huge problem for him in the fight against Erceg.
The Aussie is a phenomenal grappler who uses his wrestling skills mostly for offense. His takedown defense is just 60%, but that’s because he got taken down by Pantoja 9 times.
Erceg is also a very good striker, who doesn’t land too many strikes, but whose punches and kicks are very powerful. That said, he’s got plenty of weapons he can use against Kara-France.

This is Steve Erceg’s redemption fight after losing to Pantoja last May. He’ll have his crowd to support him, which should make him more confident. As a result, we could see him go all-in and aim for a finish. Will he pull it off? We’re not 100% sure, but we do think he’s going to get a win one way or another.
