UFC Saudi Arabia brings one very interesting matchup, which is under the radar. Kelvin Gastelum meets Daniel Rodriguez, and this bout could be a potential fight of the night. It’s interesting that both of these guys come from California, which adds more spice to this battle.

Before Betting on Kelvin Gastelum vs. Daniel Rodriguez

Gastelum was once one of the biggest prospects in the UFC, but after his split-decision loss to Tyron Woodley, his star began to fade. He has had three losses in the past four events, though he was in the middleweight division, and this is a welterweight.

His last bout was in this division, where he lost to Sean Brady in December the previous year, with him suffering a kimura submission in the third round of the fight. Gastelum previously defeated Chris Curtis but lost to Robert Whittaker and Jared Cannonier, with all the fights being ended via decision.

As for Daniel Rodriguez, the veteran had a nice run in 2021 and 2022, when he won four in a row, beating Kevin Lee, Mike Perry and Li Jingliang. He was at 17 wins and two defeats when he lost back-to-back events against Neil Magny and Ian Garry.

Rodriguez is a versatile fighter whose method of wins is mixed: 8 via KO, 4 submissions, and five decisions. He is a dominant boxer and even had a few pro fights in this sport, and as such, he relies on his punches much more than wrestling.

Gastelum’s cardio was never questioned, as well as his will to win. There aren’t too many fighters in the UFC with such a mentality, and we are pretty sure that he might be one of the stars with the most split-decision losses. On the other side is Rodriguez, who is a veteran and even though has a solid record, in our opinion doesn’t have the power to crack Gastelum’s chin and beat him.
