Before Betting On Kentucky Oaks

The biggest weekend of horse racing action in the United States kicks off on Friday, with the Kentucky Oaks being the feature on the card. Fillies aged three will be involved in this race, with a number of excellent contenders looking to take their chance in the prestigious race.

Tarifa heads the betting for Brad Cox, who will be looking for a third victory in the Oaks this year. This three-year-old has been upwardly progressive throughout this year, most recently battling to success to land the G2 Fair Ground Oaks. Our Pretty Woman was back in second in that race, and she could have excellent claims if a runner is scratched before the weekend.

Just F Y I is likely the horse that we know the most about at this stage, with the William Mott runner running a stormer to score in the G1 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies last term. She returned from a long break to finish second in the G1 Ashland, and there will be no surprise to see her play a big role at Churchill Downs on Friday.

Thorpedo Anna has been backed following the Oaks draw, with the Kenneth McPeek runner making a very dominant impression on her previous start to beat West Omaha by four lengths in the G2 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn Park. Visually, that was one of the most impressive performances that we have seen from a filly this year.

There is no shortage of chances in the Oaks this year. However, Thorpedo Anna could be the runner to keep on side, as she looks incredibly progressive, and more improvement could come over this extended distance at Churchill Downs on Friday.
