The NBA regular season has concluded and the postseason is officially underway! This Eastern Conference playoff series features a matchup between the #2 New York Knicks and the #7 Philadelphia 76ers. The Knicks jumped out to a 2-0 lead following a miraculous victory in Game 2, but now head on the road.

Before Betting on Knicks vs 76ers

The Knicks claimed a 2-0 lead in this series after winning the first two games at home. They head on the road for the next two, aiming to pick up a win in Philadelphia and close in on winning the series. Doing so would send New York to the Conference Semifinals for the second consecutive season. The wins in New York were thrilling, but they will be difficult to replicate on the 76ers home court.

Jalen Brunson will be key to New York’s success in the next two games. He shot the ball terribly in the first two games, going just 15 of 55 from the field. The Knicks managed to win despite that, proving their resilience, but are unlikely to repeat such a result on the road. They need Brunson to return to form and lead them to a victory that relies less on the defense.

The 76ers are likely to be both devastated and extra motivated following their defeat in Game 2. They led the Knicks 101-96 with just 30 seconds left in the game, appearing to have secured the victory. Unfortunately, a lucky bounce on a Brunson 3-pointer cut the lead to two points. After Maxey was swarmed on the inbound and turned the ball over, the Knicks hit another dagger and won the game.

All things considered, Philadelphia looked like the better team in each of the first two games, despite eventually losing. The Knicks fought tooth and nail to come back, motivated by the loud Garden crowd. Back in Philly, the 76ers could wind up blowing the Knicks out. If they continue to lock down Brunson, and Embiid’s knee holds up, a return to New York in Game 5 at 2-2 is very likely.

76ers win-190

I originally projected this series to be won by the Knicks in five games, but feel I less confident now. On one hand, New York’s success despite Brunson’s struggles could indicate that they will win this series easily. On the other, if Brunson continues to struggle with his shooting, New York will continue to look overwhelmed. It all comes down to the stars Embiid and Brunson, but Philly should get one back here.
