- These teams last played on Dec. 27, with the Knicks rolling to a 108-85 victory.
One of the games on tap from Monday night’s NBA slate features the New York Knicks hosting the Orlando Magic. Our Knicks vs Magic prediction foresees New York getting the “W”.
Knicks Look To End Two-Game Slide
Following a season-high nine-game winning streak, the Knicks have struggled in their last two outings. They dropped a 117-107 decision to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Jan. 3 and followed that up with a 139-126 loss against the mediocre Chicago Bulls on Saturday night.
Four players reached double figures, headlined by a sensational effort from Karl-Anthony Towns. He scored a team-high 44 points on 17-for-29 shooting from the field, grabbed 16 rebounds, and handed out five assists.
Jalen Brunson finished with 33 points on 55 percent shooting and tallied eight assists. Mikal Bridges added 18 points, and OG Anunoby chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds. New York led 72-63 at the break, but the Bulls took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Knicks by a 41-17 margin, and they never looked back after that.
Magic Hope To Build On Victory Over Raptors
Heading into their Friday night matchup against the Toronto Raptors, the Magic had dropped three of their last four contests. Fortunately, the Raptors were just what the doctor ordered, as Orlando went on to win the game 106-97. The Magic were already playing short-handed, and then it got worse when Jalen Suggs left the game in the second quarter with a lower back injury.
Tristan da Silva rose to the occasion, scoring 25 points and handing out four assists. He shot an efficient 9-for-13 from the floor and converted five of his seven attempts from 3-point range.
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope added 15 points, including three 3-pointers, and Goga Bitadze chipped in with 11 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists. Orlando also got 43 points from its bench.
The Magic made nine three-point baskets in the opening quarter to take a 37-24 advantage after the first 12 minutes of action. They never trailed the rest of the way. Thanks to a 19-for-44 effort from behind the 3-point line, Orlando improved to 18-6 on the season when making 10 or more from deep.
Knicks vs Magic Prediction: New York Gets Another Win Against Short-Handed Orlando
Yes, New York has dropped its last two games by double-digit margins. On the flip side of the narrative, the Magic have dropped all three matchups against the Knicks this season. With Paolo Banchero (29.0 PPG) and Frantz Wagner (24.4 PPG) out of the rotation, Orlando lacks the firepower to keep pace against a Knicks squad with the sixth-highest scoring average in the league. With that in mind, look for New York to roll to another victory against Orlando.
