The world of soccer was shocked earlier this week, as it was revealed by Kylian Mbappe that he wouldn’t be signing a 12-month extension with French giants PSG. That decision means that the World Cup winner could leave the club on a free transfer next summer, sparking rumors that PSG could be set to cash-in on their star player this summer.

There is little doubt that Kylian Mbappe will attract a lot of attention from some of the world’s biggest clubs this summer. The Frenchman ended the 2022 World Cup as the top scorer, netting a hat-trick in the final in Qatar against Argentina. Mbappe enjoyed one of his best scoring seasons for PSG last term, as he netted a remarkable 29 goals in just 34 Ligue 1 matches. He also scored seven goals in eight Champions League matches.

PSG will likely require a world-record fee to part ways with the 24-year-old, with the latest reports claiming that a $160 million price has been put on the World Cup winner. There has been long-term questions surrounding his future, with Mbappe reportedly holding the Parisians to ransom surrounding a new deal last summer.

Reports 12 months ago claimed that the forward was set to leave the club on a free transfer for Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants were left with egg on their face after the 24-year-old opted to remain in Paris. Los Blancos will once again head the queue for Mbappe this summer, but they will be cautious about their chances.

Manchester United also remain in the market for a forward player this summer, and could make their move if the Qatari takeover is complete in the early weeks of the transfer window. Mbappe is reportedly open to a move to the Premier League, and United could offer the world-record fee required if the takeover is complete early in the summer window.
