Los Angeles Galaxy might be second from the bottom in the West, but Greg Vanney’s men are ready to up their performances in the near future. Actually, they’ve already started playing well – they defeated their city rivals LAFC in El Trafico on the Fourth of July.
Can they add another win to their portfolio this weekend? On Saturday, July 8, they’re welcoming Philadelphia Union at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson.
Before Betting on LA Galaxy vs. Philadelphia Union
LA Galaxy’s fans are jubilant after seeing their boys beat LAFC 2-1 at Rose Bowl on the Fourth of July. It was arguably their best performance of the season. They were brilliant defensively, preventing the opposition from scoring more than once despite making 17 goal chances. Vanney’s boys also did great offensively, scoring two goals that evening.
Twenty-three-year-old midfielder Riqui Puig had a game to remember, scoring once and recording one assist. More importantly, he was instrumental in the center of the pitch, often helping out with both defending and attacking.
Galaxy’s goalkeepers Jonathan Bond and Jonathan Klinsmann were brilliant as well. Bond made several crucial saves in the first half, but he was then replaced by Klinsmann after picking up an injury. His backup did allow a goal, but he also showed that he can do well between the sticks.
Regardless of who gets to play on Saturday, LA Galaxy fans don’t have to worry about goalkeeping as both of their goalies are class. And should they worry about scoring against Philadelphia? Not really because Philly’s defense hasn’t been doing great lately. They conceded a total of seven goals in their last four MLS games.
There’s a reason behind this, though. Kai Wagner, one of Philly’s best defenders is out with an injury, while his colleague from the defensive department, Damion Lowe is out with his national team at the 2023 Gold Cup. The same goes for Union’s first-choice goalkeeper Andre Blake who’s protecting Jamaica’s net this weekend.
