Our top LAFC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps prediction is that LAFC will win. If we had to guess the correct score in the October 27 game, we’d go for 3:0. Why? Because it’s the most common result in LAFC vs. Vancouver duels – it’s happened three times within the last 18 months.
We also have an interesting prop bet in mind, involving LAFC’s No. 9, Olivier Giroud. Famous for his goal-scoring prowess, the French striker is still without a single goal to his name since making BMO Stadium his new home. Maybe his goal drought will end on Sunday?
In this LAFC vs. Whitecaps preview, we’re going to analyze all of those scenarios, explaining which bet(s) we’d recommend placing in Round One of the 2024 MLS Playoffs.

LAFC Looking Unstoppable
LAFC finished the regular season at the very top of the MLS Western Conference. We saw them leapfrog their city rivals Galaxy in the final round after beating the San Jose Earthquakes 3:1.
LAFC had a little bit of luck, but the main reason they finished in the No. 1 spot in the West is that they did great in the final month of the season. In fact, they’re 5-0-0 in the MLS, scoring a total of 11 goals along the way.
That accounts for more than 2 goals per game on average. What’s interesting, however, is that none of those was the work of Olivier Giroud. This is somewhat surprising given his pedigree – the Frenchman has scored 286 goals in his 19-years-long professional career.
In his previous job, he scored 15 goals for AC Milan in 35 Serie A games. With LAFC, he’s played 10 MLS games but is yet to score. The reason why our prediction is that he’ll do it in the LAFC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps game is that the boys from Canada aren’t great defensively.
After finishing 8th in the West, they had to play a Wild Card game against the Portland Timbers. They beat them 5:0 in what was arguably their best performance of the year. However, before thrashing the Timbers, they lost four MLS games in a row, conceding 7 goals in the process (or, over 2 per game).
One of those losses happened to LAFC. The game was played in Canada and the visitors won 2:1. Now, the LAFC vs. Whitecaps game is played in California, and our betting prediction is that the hosts will win by a larger margin this time around.
LAFC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps Prediction
Our top LAFC vs. Vancouver Whitecaps pick is that the hosts will win. We also predict that we’ll see plenty of goals on Sunday, so “over 2.5” looks like a safe bet.
One of those goals is bound to be the world of Giroud. In fact, we suspect that all the goals in the game will be scored by LAFC’s players.
Feel lucky? Betting that the correct score will be 3:0 LAFC could be a fantastic move.
