Anthony Davis had a monstrous night against his old team, while on the other side, James Harden tore apart the Philadelphia 76ers in Texas. A lot of games and a lot of news from the NBA, so stay tuned for our quick recap of the night.
Davis Ruthless Towards the Pelicans
AD had 46 points against New Orleans, and he was more than dominant against his former team. The Lakers’ center went 15-for-21 from the field and was also superb form the free-throw line hitting all of his 13 shots. Along with that, Davis had 13 boards and three steals, posting several harsh dunks, one of them over Brandon Ingram.
Eventually, the Lakers won the game 123-113, but again they allowed the hosts to start the final period furiously and to lose 20+points advantage. After having a marvelous first quarter in which they’ve scored 43 points, and keeping the same pace until the end of the third, LAL again slowed down. Whether it is because of fatigue or simply due to coincidence, the Lakers got away twice, but they would need to remove this negative trend.
Danny Green was astonishing in the first period hitting five threes. At the end of the night, the former Spurs and Raptors forward scored 25 points and was one of the best players on both ends of the floor. Lebron was more into assisting his teammates, and he delivered 15 dimes with 17 points and 8 boards.
Among the guests, two former Lakers, Lonzo Ball with 23 and Ingram with 22 led the way. The Pelicans (11-24) play against the Kings, while the Lakers (28-7) meet the Pistons on Sunday.
Rockets Flying High
James Harden likes playing big games, and he proved that last night against the 76ers. His Houston won that event 118-108, and the Beard posted a triple-double with 44 buckets, and 11 dimes and boards. Harden made six threes in 12 tries and hit all of his dozen free-throw attempts.
But there was also one other guy who stepped up to deliver a superb performance. Clint Capela scored 30 points with 14 boards, missing just four of his 16 shots from the field. Russell Westbrook had 20 points and 7 rebounds. This was Rockets’ 24th win of the season, and they also have 11 losses.
On the other side, Ben Simmons also reached a triple-double with 29 points, 13 rebounds, and 11 assists. Tobias Harris had 24, while Joel Embiid scored 20 with 12 boards. Philly is now 23-14, and hosts OKC Thunder at home on Monday. The Rockets face Atlanta in Georgia next Wednesday.
In other matches, Orlando won the Florida derby against the Heat 105-85, limiting the guests to just 18.9% for three, 7-for-37. Nikola Vucevic had 20 points and 11 boards for the home team, while Jimmy Butler scored 23 for Miami.
Portland Trail Blazers finally posted a win. Terry Stotts boys beat Washington in DC, 122-103. Damian Lillard on one, and Jordan McRae had 35 points. Hassan Whiteside posted 23 and 21 boards.
Boston rallied back from an 18-point deficit in the first period to beat the Atlanta Hawks, 109-106, led by Jaylen Brown, who had 24 points. Tra young dropped 28 for the guests from Georgia.
And at last, the Phoenix Suns stopped New York after three wins, beating the Knicks 120-112. Devin Booker had a crazy night with 38 points.
