The 2020 NFL Draft set for April 23 in Las Vegas will most likely take place at The Linq Promenade and the Caesars Forum. The Caesars Forum is going to come out of renovation shortly before the event, offering 550,000 square feet of fresh space where 10,000 people can be hosted.
According to sources in the Las Vegas Review-Journal, more information about the event will be revealed on November 26 when the NFL is expected to reveal more information about the most important off-season pow-wow in American football.
Caesars Entertainment to Benefit from the NFL Decision
The shift towards the new venue will be an attempt to benefit from Caesars Entertainment Corp.’s facilities as well as honor an entertainment partnership that Caesars and the NFL recently struck together, excluding all sports betting-related assets.
A week around Caesars Forum would cost attendees North of $1,400 just for accommodation, giving the hotels in the vicinity a rare opportunity to turn a pretty penny on the move. The 2018 NFL Draft got as many as 600,000 people to Nashville, Tennessee.
In honesty, it makes perfect sense to shift the venue to Las Vegas, as the Oklahoma Raiders are being rebranded as the Las Vegas Raiders, drawing fans across the state border. Not least of all, Caesars has estimated 20,000 hotel rooms near the Caesars Forum, providing more opportunities for the hospitality company to turn a profit.
No-one is sure how much information will surface on November 26, but the venue should be revealed then, Las Vegas Review-Journal, the newspaper owned by Sheldon Adelson, estimates.
Major Traffic Rearrangement Expected in April, 2020
The influx of hundreds of thousands of NFL fans can quickly cause some trouble to local authorities who would need to react quickly. Clark County Commission’s Public Works Department and Metro will coordinate and potentially shut down Flamingo Road to re-route traffic.
More information about the arrangement may surface closer to the event with no official plans just yet. Still, the venue hasn’t been set in stone and some have speculated that the T-Mobile Arena, Toshiba Plaza and the Park Theatre are all viable places for the event to take place.
However, in light of the new partnership, it’s far more likely that the NFL is now considering the shift towards the Caesars Forum. The new facility will arrive in March, giving opportunity for the company to host the Draft if this is the case after the November 26 announcement.
Some 255 NFL players will debut with their jerseys and hats, glad shake with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell and join the teams that have drafted them. Just this Saturday, Colin Kaepernick attended his first try out. One of the biggest questions this year is whether the athlete will be signed after spending almost two years as a free contractor.
