Liverpool make their return to the Europa League on Thursday, as they open their Group E campaign against LASK. The Reds are the clear favorites to win the competition this term, but Jurgen Klopp could make a number of changes for this Europa League opener.

Before Betting On LASK vs Liverpool

It has been a long time since Liverpool were competing in the Europa League, with their previous campaign coming in Jurgen Klopp’s first season in charge, as the Reds made it through to the final. They will once again be expected to play a prominent role in the race for the title this season, as they are currently the outright favorites to win the competition.

However, Liverpool have struggled in away fixtures in the competition, as they have won just four of their last 21 on the road. Over that period, they were beaten on eight occasions. That record is even more concerning in recent times, as they have won just one of their last nine away matches in the Europa League.

LASK will be optimistic of causing an upset in the Europa League this term, and their chances are certainly aided by the fact that they have lost just one of their last 16 matches across all European competitions. At home, their record is especially encouraging, as they have avoided defeat in each of their last eight in Europe since a 2-0 defeat against Antwerp in November 2020.

This will be a first competitive meeting between the two sides. However, LASK has come up against English opposition on four previous occasions, and they are yet to win. Liverpool have a fine record against Austrian opposition, as they have lost just one of their last eight.

Liverpool will make changes for this Europa League opener, but they still look incredibly challenging to overlook on matchday one. We expect the Reds to have far too much for their Austrian rivals, and we could see them landing a 3-1 win on the road.
