Before Betting On Leeds vs Southampton

The biggest match of the season in the Championship will take place at Wembley on Sunday, as Southampton and Leeds collide in the playoff final. Both sides would have been expecting to end the campaign in the automatic promotion spots, but Leeds were forced to settle for third in the standings, with Southampton finishing a place further back in fourth.

It is the second time that these teams will be colliding in May, with Southampton landing a 2-1 success at Elland Road on the final day of the campaign. Both Leeds and Southampton needed to overcome poor performances in their opening legs in the semi-final stage, before cruising through with strong outings in their home fixtures.

Leeds were the first side to book their spot in the final after dominating Norwich at Elland Road to secure a 4-0 home success. However, their record in the playoffs remains poor, as they have failed to gain promotion in their last five attempts. Southampton were also professional in their return clash against West Brom, landing a dominant 3-1 home win on Friday evening.

The Saints completed the league double over the Whites during the regular season, scoring five goals and conceding just twice. Leeds also don’t have the best overall record against their rivals after winning just once in their last six matches against Southampton.
