Tampa Bay Lightning’s hold on the Stanley Cup finally came to an end in the finals last season, as they were beaten in six games by the Colorado Avalanche. However, they will be looking to once again reach the playoffs this term. But, they will need a change in fortunes after being beaten on the road in their opening game of the season by the New York Rangers.
Before Betting On Lightning vs Blue Jackets
Two sides that are yet to record a victory in the NHL so far this season will meet in Columbus on Friday evening, as the Blue Jackets welcome the Tampa Bay Lightning to town. The hosts were resoundingly beaten in their opening fixture of the new season, as they were hammered 4-1 on the road by the Carolina Hurricanes.
Columbus conceded two goals in each of the second and third periods in that defeat, and they would have been extremely disappointed at how quickly they faded in the final period. Their only goal was scored in the second period, with Patrik Laine managing to find a way past Frederik Andersen in the Hurricanes goal.
It was also defeat on the opening night for the Tampa Bay Lightning, as they couldn’t find a victory on the road against a very impressive-looking New York Rangers. Eventually, they were beaten 3-1 in that fixture, as they conceded twice in the final period.
But, they will be expecting to pick up a first victory in this fixture on Friday evening. The only goal in their defeat earlier in the week was scored in the second period by Steven Stamkos.

The Lightning has a very strong record in this fixture, and we struggle to see them losing their opening two games of the campaign. Therefore, we could see the former Stanley Cup champions finally registering a first win this weekend against the Blue Jackets.
