Liverpool beat Bayer Leverkusen 4-0 in the Champions League, with Luis Diaz capping off the night with his first hattrick for the club.

Whilst people in Liverpool celebrated bonfire night, setting off fireworks, there wasn’t much spark on the pitch in the first half. Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah both had fairly tame shots saved and Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong had the ball in the back of the net, but was adjudged to have handled the ball in the build up.

The second half began all Liverpool. The deadlock was finally broken as Curtis Jones slotted a super throughball to Luis Diaz who returned the favour, dinking Lukas Hradecky for 1-0.

The Reds made it two nothing a matter of seconds later, Cody Gakpo heading home from a Mohamed Salah cross. Initially ruled offside, VAR stated Gakpo was actually onside.

The Liverpool dominance continued with Mohamed Salah providing again, this time for Luis Diaz as he got his second of the night. Luis Diaz would get his hattrick minutes later as he slotted in from close range to cap off a strong night from the reds.
