One of the biggest games in the Premier League takes place this weekend, as Manchester City make the trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool. City will be looking to go back to the top of the standings, while the Reds will be looking to end a run of three domestic fixtures without victory.

Before Betting On Liverpool vs Manchester City

Regardless of the league standings, fixtures between Liverpool and Manchester City have become unmissable over the past couple of years. It will put the previous five champions of England against one another, but both teams come into this match in contrasting form. City has been as dominant as ever, as Pep Guardiola’s side sit second in the league standings, and are currently two points behind Arsenal.

However, it hasn’t been a good start for Liverpool, as the Reds sit tenth after eight rounds of fixtures. Jurgen Klopp’s side has picked up just two victories from the matches that they have played to this point, and they will be looking to end a three-game wait for victory against City.

Liverpool has gone five without a victory against Manchester City in the Premier League, but they have never gone six in the history of the league. Meanwhile, City has picked up four points from their previous two visits from Anfield. That recent record is staggering when you consider that they picked up just five points from their previous 17 visits before the start of that run.

However, the Reds have an excellent record against defending champions, as they have won on 22 previous occasions. They are also unbeaten in their previous 13 home games against teams that won the league title in the season prior.

This will be an entertaining fixture between the two sides that have dominated English soccer for the past half a decade. However, it’s so hard to see past City taking the win, given the strong form that they have been in this season. We expect the away side to win, but we could see both teams scoring.
