Arsenal will be aiming to increase their advantage at the top of the Premier League standings when they play midweek in the English top-flight on Tuesday against Luton. Meanwhile, the hosts will be looking to bounce back after suffering a second defeat in three matches.

Before Betting On Luton vs Arsenal

It has been a long time since Luton and Arsenal have collided in a fixture, with the previous meeting coming back in December 1991. Luton landed a famous 1-0 win in that latest clash, with the success being achieved in the top-flight at Kenilworth Road. The Gunners haven’t enjoyed their trips to Luton throughout history, as they are winless in their last ten visits since a 2-1 win in January 1984.

The Gunners have been held to draws in six of their previous ten away matches against Luton, with four matches ending in defeat. However, Arsenal have excelled in matches against first-time opponents in the Premier League, as they have won six of their last seven. Their only defeat over that period was a 2-0 loss against Brentford in August 2021.

However, Luton have underperformed against sides starting the day at the top of the standings in the top division. They have picked up just one win from 14 such fixtures, with their only success coming against Liverpool in February 1991. Over that period, they have suffered nine defeats with four matches ending in draws.

The Gunners have a strong record in midweek fixtures in the Premier League, as they have won 55.7% of their matches. However, they have struggled in matches played between Tuesday and Thursday after winning just 48% of their fixtures between those days of the week.

Luton will be aware that they will be the massive outsiders in the betting this week, but confidence could be taken from their recent impressive home display against Liverpool. It could be a tighter game than many expect on Tuesday, but we still prefer the chances of Arsenal to win by a one-goal margin in the Premier League this week.
