The MLB season is in full swing, and every single team is in action for all three days this weekend. Because there are 15 games a day, there is a plethora of gambling opportunities for sports bettors to take advantage of. The article will look at the best bets for MLB action this weekend.
Bet #1 Friday – New York Yankees at New York Mets
Masahiro Tanaka is one of the most consistent over plays this season. In games Tanaka has started, the over has hit 8 of the last 9 times. DeGrom could shut the Yankees out, which is always a concern, but the Yankees are a patient team. DeGrom’s pitch count might climb, which would allow the Yankees to face the Mets’ pen for 3+ innings.
Take the Mets/Yankees Over.
Bet #2 Friday – Seattle at Tampa Bay
The Mariners have the third best record in the MLB and are still only a -110 favorite at Tampa. The continued disrespect by the betting public is hard to understand. Marco Gonzales is not a household name, but he should be able to lead the Mariners to victory.
Take the Mariners.
Bonus prop bets: Mariners score first. Yes, a run is scored in the first inning.
Bet #3 Friday – St. Louis at Cincinnati
The play here is essentially a bet against Matt Harvey more than it is a bet on the Cardinals. Harvey in a bandbox is a recipe for disaster, not to mention Cardinals’ home runs. There is not enough value on the moneyline but taking the Cardinals to win by 2 or more is the play.
Take the Cardinals -1.5.
Note: All of the lines or over/under numbers below are projections because the lines for Saturday and Sunday are not out yet.
Bet #4 Saturday – Cleveland at Detroit
The over/under for this game should fall somewhere around 8.5 or 9. If the line gets down to 8, stay away, and if it is as high as 9.5, fire with confidence. Fiers has been pitching fairly well and he controlled the Yankees the last time he took the mound. Clevinger imploded late, but he should be able to shut the Tigers down.
Take the Indians/Tigers to stay under.
Bet #5 Saturday — Baltimore at Toronto
The Blue Jays should be about a -140 favorite on Saturday. Gausman has shown the stuff to shut a team down, which should help the line stay smaller than it might if someone else were pitching. Sanchez is a much better pitcher than his numbers show, and the Jays should be able to beat the lowly Orioles on Saturday.
Take the Blue Jays moneyline.
Bet #6 Sunday Stud Parlay (Kluber, Scherzer, Severino)
On Sunday all three of the pitchers go for their respective teams. They will all be in the -250 to -300 range as favorites, which makes them lack value individually. However, thrown into one 3 team parlay, even if they are all -300, the payout will still be +137.
Take the Indians, Nationals and Yankees together in a 3-team parlay.
Bet #7 – Astros at Rangers
Justin Verlander was a -200 favorite against Doug Fister on Friday, which provides some insight into the line on Sunday. The Astros will probably be somewhere around the -130 range against Matt Moore, which is a strong play. Moore gives up so many homeruns, and when the Astros start scoring it is like an avalanche.
Take the Astros on the moneyline to beat the Rangers.
Enjoy the MLB weekend!
