Erik ten Hag’s long-term future at Man United remains uncertain, despite the Dutchman surpassing expectations to guide the club to a memorable FA Cup final success against Man City on Saturday. But, could the Red Devils be set to replace their current boss this summer?

Erik ten Hag’s future at Man United will become clearer over the coming weeks, as co-chairman Joel Glazer and co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe conduct their end of season review. Further input will be offered by Sir Dave Brailsford and Jason Wilcox, but the expectancy is that the Dutchman will be relying on his recent win in the FA Cup to keep hold of his position.

It was largely a season to forget for the Red Devils, as they finished eighth in the Premier League and crashed out in the group stage of the Champions League. However, the team’s success in the FA Cup at least mean that they will have European soccer to look forward to next term after ensuring a spot in the Europa League.

United’s hierarchy reportedly expressed concern with Ten Hag continuing in his position before the cup final, but the manner in which the players performed for the Dutchman at Wembley means that they still appear on the side of the current boss. Meanwhile, fan support within the stadium means that United’s passionate fan base want ten Hag to be given another season.

Thomas Tuchel and Mauricio Pochettino have both held talks with United bosses, with Kieran McKenna is also among the front runners having spent time at the club under the stewardship of Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Thomas Frank is also among the bosses that have been contacted, but the Brentford boss is reportedly among the outsiders.

It would appear incredibly harsh to call time on ten Hag’s stay at United after the club produced their best display of the season in the FA Cup final. Returning players showed that there is quality within the team, and that could grant the Dutchman at least the first half of next season.
