- Alejandro Garnachos shines
- Red Devils controlled game
- Brentford wasteful in front of goal
Manchester United got a comeback victory in the Premier League, with goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hoijlund giving them a 2-1 win over Brentford.
The Red Devils fell behind in the closing stages of the first half, with Ethan Pinnock turning home Mikel Damsgaard’s corner, despite defender Mathias De Ligt being off the pitch.
It took less than two minutes for Erik Ten Hag’s team to respond, with Marcus Rashford delivering a pinpoint cross for Alejandro Garnacho to volley home.
United’s dominance paid off 20 minutes later, as Hojlund found himself one-on-one, to dink Mark Flekken and give his team the lead.
Man United Player Ratings
Alejandro Garnacho leads way with stellar performance
United’s Argentine winger terrorized Brentford’s back four from minute one, being United’s biggest threat throughout. It was only a matter of time before he got his second Premier League goal of the season.
Elsewhere, Rashford impressed down the right, whilst Bruno Fernandes continued to pull the strings in midfield, getting his reward when he set up Hojlund for the winner.
Andre Onana – 6.0
Andre Onana had limited things to do, but answered the call when needed.

Not his game today, Bryan Mbuemo caused him several issues and he didn’t mark Pinnock for Brentford’s goal.

Looked out of place at times, but managed Brentford’s attack well, when he was on the pitch.

The best of United’s defence, controlled the backline well.

His best game in a United shirt for a while, controlled the midfield incredibly well.

Brentford Player Ratings
Bees lose their sting
An off day for the majority of Thomas Frank’s team, as United contained them throughout, hiving to rely on set-pieces to cause any real threat.
Mark Flekken – 6.0
Not particularly at fault for either goal, but didn’t look too good either.
Sepp van den Berg – 5.0
Out of position, and unfortunately in showed. Garnacho had him on strings.
Nathan Collins – 6.0
Looked comfortable, just not quick enough to stop either goal.
Ethan Pinnock – 6.5
Also not particularly at fault for the goals, picked up a goal for his troubles.
Kristoffer Ajer – 5.0
Bad day for both of Brentford’s full-backs, they were run around all game.
Mikel Damsgaard – 7.0
One of Brentford’s shining lights, created a few chances and provided the assist.
Christian Norgaard – 6.0
Not much to say here, did very little throughout other than some good tackles.
Vitaly Janelt – 6.0
Almost identical to Norgaard, very quiet day for the Bees midfield.
Keane Lewis-Potter – 5.5
Just could not get anything going, every run he made forward was mopped up by Casemiro or Eriksen.
Bryan Mbuemo – 7.0
Consistently Brentford’s best player, caused a threat when he had the ball, although that was limited.
Kevin Schade – 4.0
You’d be forgiven for thinking he wasn’t on the pitch.
