A huge match in the Premier League takes place at Old Trafford this weekend. Man United will be looking to tighten their grip in the race for Champions League qualification, as they take on an in-form Aston Villa.

Before Betting On Man United vs Aston Villa

It has been an indifferent week for Man United. The Red Devils booked their spot in the FA Cup final last weekend, but they weren’t able to back that performance up as they threw away a 2-0 lead against Tottenham Hotspur in midweek, before settling for a draw. However, they still boast a healthy advantage in the race for Champions League qualification this season, as United sit six clear of Spurs with two games in hand.

United comes into this fixture in excellent form at Old Trafford, as the Red Devils are unbeaten in 14 matches at the Theatre of Dreams since an opening day defeat against Brighton. No side in the Premier League can currently boast a longer unbeaten streak at home. However, United have now lost two of their previous three league matches against Villa following a 3-1 defeat at Villa Park earlier in the season.

Villa’s record against United has been historically poor, but two wins from their previous three against the Red Devils is a massive improvement after having won just two in their last 51. But, the side from the West Midlands will be looking to complete a first league double over United since the 1954-55 season this weekend.

There has been massive improvement made since the arrival of Unai Emery, as Villa have lost just once in nine matches on the road. Their only defeat came in Manchester, as they were beaten 3-1 at the Etihad by City in February. Villa landed a 1-0 win in this exact fixture last season.

This should be a competitive fixture between the sides, with both still in the mix for a Champions League finish. United looked very tired in midweek against Spurs, and an energetic Villa could take full advantage this weekend. We could see the visitors recording a second straight win at Old Trafford for the first time since 1930.
