The final of the EFL Cup will be set this week, as the two second legs in the semi-finals will be played. Manchester United built up a massive advantage in the first leg against Nottingham Forest, and they will be looking to avoid a mighty shock against Forest at Old Trafford on Wednesday.

Before Betting On Man United vs Nottingham Forest

Manchester United almost certainly appear to have one foot in the EFL Cup final coming into this round of second legs. The Red Devils were mightily impressive last week at the City Ground, as they picked up a huge 3-0 win against Forest. That result means that Forest will need to produce one of the all-time best comebacks in the history of the competition.

United started the quicker of the two teams in Nottingham, and they deservedly went ahead after just six minutes through Marcus Rashford. The advantage was doubled on the stroke of half time, as Wout Weghorst scored his first goal for the Red Devils with a fine finish after a strong save by Wayne Hennersey.

At 2-0, Forest may have believed that they could yet save the tie at Old Trafford, but any hope could have been taken away as United added a third with almost the last kick of the game. Bruno Fernandes scored the final goal in the success, with an excellent half-volley after a chipped pass by Anthony Elanga.

The result was fair for the balance of play in the game, and United could have added more to that tally. However, if Forest are going to make a quick-fire return to Wembley this season, then they will need to produce one of their best displays in modern history at the Theatre of Dreams.

United’s record against Forest is incredibly strong, as they have picked up wins in each of the previous eight meetings. That includes two wins in the previous two months. Forest hasn’t beaten United at Old Trafford since 1994, and we can’t see that changing on Wednesday.
