- Manchester United hosts Tottenham Hotspur this Saturday.
- The Red Devils are without a victory for three straight events.
- Meanwhile, Tottenham is highly unpredictable lately.
The two direct rivals for the fourth place in the English Premier League meet at Old Trafford this weekend. Why is that fourth place so important? Well simply – it leads to the UEFA Champions League, and that is a must for these two sides this year.
Both these don’t have any chances for winning the trophies, and the place in the elite competition of European football would be a solid comfort.

The Red Devils’ Saga Continues
Is Ronaldo injured or not? Is he in a poor relationship with Rangnick? And this is only a pair in the sea of questions that surround the Red Devils right now. The current form won’t help them too much, as United didn’t win the past three games, and is coming off a terrible loss against Manchester City.
The local rivals trashed United, 4-1, and to be perfectly clear, Rangnick’s unit had luck for not conceding a few more goals. The way the Citizens played, they could have packed at least two more hits behind De Gea’s back. United allowed at least a goal in seven of the last ten games, and as time goes by, the pressure on Maguire is rising, and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him benched anytime soon.
United has one victory in the past four home games, which was against Brighton, 2-0. Besides that, they posted two draws, vs. Watford and Southampton, and a loss to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup following the penalties.
Black and White Tottenham
There is no grey zone for the Spurs in the past few weeks. They either win or lose, and the record for Conte’s unit in the latest 10 games is five wins and defeats each. They don’t have a pattern that might tell us more about the performances. On one side, Kane and the boys beat City 2-3, Leeds with 0-4, and Everton 5-0, but then manage to lose to Burnley or Middlesbrough.
If we examine the road events, they posted subsequent victories and losses in the last eight meetings. Six of those clashes were with only one side netting. And check this paradox now – they net three times at Etihad, pack four goals in Leeds, but then fail to net vs. Burnley or Boro.
Conte likes to play open and offensive, yet his team doesn’t have the consistency to provide high-caliber performances upfront, which is unbelievable to see because of Kane and Son.
Head to Head
United won the first meeting of the year, beating the Spurs 0-3 in London. It was the second straight victory for them over Tottenham. Though, the latest clash at Trafford saw United’s demolition, 1-6.
